How much does it cost to adopt a dog from Spain?

Our adoption fee is £145.

Transport to England is £300. Prices for transport to Scotland depend on how many dogs are travelling to Scotland on that trip, prices start at £385.

What does the adoption fee cover?

The £145 adoption fee covers the dogs blood tests, microchip, passport, annual DHPPI vaccine, rabies vaccine, health certificate and neutering (if the dog is over 1 year old).

We will also register the microchip for you with
PETtrac and arrange transport.

Will my Spanish rescue dog be house trained?

The majority of the dogs in the care of the shelter were rescued from the street, some may have lived in a home in the past but we will not know their history.

Ensure frequent toilet breaks outside and reward when they toilet outside.

Some dogs adjust quickly to life in a home, for others it may take more time.

Will my rescue dog know sit/stay/recall?

As the majority of the dogs in the care of the shelter were rescued from the street, they will not have any obedience training.

Don’t let that put you off, dogs can be quick to learn!

With patience and being the leader your dog needs, you can build an amazing relationship with your new dog.

Can I apply if my children are under 10?

Younger children can sometimes be unintentionally high-energy, which might overwhelm a rescue dog who is adjusting to a new life.

For this reason, we ask that resident children be of a certain age. We understand that all children are different, please contact us to discuss if you are looking to adopt.

Which blood tests are done?

Do you provide Rescue Backup (RBU)?

Yes, we provide ongoing support and guidance to adopters, which can help prevent situations where a return becomes necessary.

If for any reason you are unable to keep ownership of your dog, please contact us.

Can I adopt a dog that gets on with cats?

Dogs can be cat tested, if you would like to adopt one of our amazing Spanish rescue dogs and would like to find out how they react to cats, please get in touch. Each dog's listing will state if they can live with cats, cannot live with cats or can be cat tested on request.

How do the dogs travel from Spain to the UK?

Both transporters we use, Kaiser Pets Transport and Wawapets, travel by road. The transporters are fully licensed and hold Type 2 licences for long journeys.

They cross from France to England by either ferry or the Eurotunnel.

Can the dog travel directly to my address?

Home delivery may be available at an extra cost.

The transporter will plan their route the week of travel and then let us know their planned stops. They will let us know where you are to collect your dog and what time.
